BIBLICAL MASCULINITY IN A WORLD OF SOFTNESS.

Virtue.

Courage. Masculinity.

Excellence.

Virtus is the Latin word for masculinity perfected, excellence, virtue, or courage. It is the patriarchal vision of Aeneas, who carried his father on his back and his son in hand as he fled a burning Troy. He would plant a seed for a nation that became Rome. He bore the weight (gravitas), honored God & household (pietas), and commanded the respect of his men (auctoritas). He was warrior, farmer, protector, and sage.

Pietas.

Duty.

Household.

Pietas is the Latin word for godliness, or piety. It isn’t a spiritually disembodied vision, but is duty to God and household. Pietas is fathers working doggedly to provide a better future for their progeny, warriors on the battlefield, mothers with nursing infants at their breasts, lavish tables overflowing in hospitality, patriarchal psalms of mirth, and a fruitful vision for households that bring order to the chaos in the cosmos.
